About IQC

Mr. George H. Hummel, IQC’s Co-Founder, is a member of the US TAG to ISO/TC 176, the committee responsible for writing and revising the ISO 9001 series of standards for the U.S. and Mrs. Jeanette Hummel, IQC’s Co-Founder and President, pictured below, has developed numerous training programs and process improvement techniques widely used in thousands of U.S. businesses today. The Hummel’s family business was formally established in 1982 as Developmental Training Systems, Ltd. In the early 1990s, the name was changed to Interstate Quality Consultants, Inc.

Today, the business is known as IQC – the ISO Professionals and it is owned and run by George and Jeanette’s son, Seth.

Our Story

In the 1960s, Mr. Herbert Hummel was hired away from Volkswagen by Toyota and promptly sent to Japan to learn the now “world-renowned” Toyota Production System. Mr. Hummel studied in Japan for over 2 years with Mr. Taiichi Ohno and Mr. Shigeo Shingo, among others, and was appointed the U.S. Director for establishing an auto dealer presence in the United States. Toyota challenged Mr. Hummel to use the TQC methodologies he learned in Japan to streamline dealership development and creation and to use that process to help further establish Toyota within their new market. Under Herbert’s leadership, a two-year dealership set up process was quickly turned into an efficient and effective three-month cycle with the implementation of TQC methodology. This initial success formed the groundwork for IQC and our sister company, Maximum Potential, Inc.

Our Company’s History

Back in 1982, IQC – the ISO Professionals is not what it was before. As a matter of fact, its history can be traced as far back when it was still called and named as the Developmental Training Systems, Ltd. Fast forward to a decade, they formally changed the name to Interstate Quality Consultants, Inc. – then now known as IQC – the ISO Professionals.

IQC – the ISO Professionals is a company that has been nurtured healthily and manageably by the best, the most experienced, and the most technical people in the industry. Our founder, Mr. George Hummel, is one of the few people who embarked on a mission by joining the US TAG to the ISO/TC 176, the team who managed to write, change, and formally revise the ISO 9001 U.S. standards.

Mrs. Jeanette Hummel, Co-Founder and also the President of IQC – the ISO Professionals, has been the one who developed the training programs for ISO-based and implemented systems that thousands of companies and organizations used.
